Which would make sense to wish for that given he's relived it but isn't clear that's how he died. The lack of preparation clearly plays a roll if it is in fact the 7th point. Again though merely an opinion and I didn't see it on my playthrough whatsoever. The water monster though could just be a supernatural entity that preys on the spirits trapped there as it is found near the purge lake. As for falling and water I'd imagine the same thing applies that he didn't do that on the way down so can't do it on the way up. This of course begs the question then of why he has just the base scanner at the start but I think it's a matter of beginning the same way he began his descent. The additional scanners could have been different prototypes of other divers left behind and on his way down he was salvaging them. However based on the dialogue again he does mention he got the farthest. If he's reliving his descent in reverse and ascending the cave it would make sense that he's unable to interact with things outside of what he did going down the cave. Based on what you learn at the start of a new game+ I would rule out falling all together.Īs for the interaction and lack thereof I would attribute it to the nature of the cave. However It could also be the "ghost" near the start and it followed you farther down. Based on the dialogue to himself over the course of the expedition as well as the point made once you start new game+ with all the upgrades. These are all just ideas though, it would be cool to know what the developers intended for our death. At the base of the lift, it is mentioned that being better prepared was wished for, did something happen that we were not prepared for on the way down? Although the fact the water bottles are empty is some evidence that this could be the case.Ĩ. I personally don't like this one as at the start we are seeing using light and can interact, picking up the scanning equipment. For picking up scanners and using the lift and boat there is no animation, this is probally just a budget thing but it could represent that at these points in the game we are already dead.ħ. Moving things (Boat, Lift) Why do these things remain scanned when they move. Pretty self explanitory this one, but again has the problem that not all players would of fallen at any point.ĥ. It may be an underwater creature living in the caves as a logical explination, but in this case, why does it show up without scanning?Īlso, this is unlikely our death as not everyone who played the game actually got caught by this thing.Ĥ. It does not have to be scanned to be visible aswell, another unique property. It moves and it only appears when we are in water. Paranormal (Water Monster) so this is the least explinanable thing in the game. Did our first short and forced move through water break our scanner, resulting in our inability to see and eventual death?ģ. So, in the water the scanner slowly stops working. This could be a cause of our death, but what is it, and why did it kill us?Ģ. This Ghost also moves, unlike any other encountered, being seen again at the bridges. The first "Ghost" we encounter is made of White material, this is not organic and not cave, no other ghost has this material, others show up as brown, being organic material. I have a few ideas but some clarification would be nice.ġ. So heres the question, When and why did we die?

I am also taking it we made that way down using a portable light source and not the scanner as there is a light source in the tent and the scanner has no infromation on it, we then use the scanner to record the cave system layout, as evidence of our expedition.Īs we go along, we pick up resvere scanners that we have placed so that we dont run out of battery, take a boat ride and at the end we used a lift to escape. I am taking it that we are alive at the start, thus needing to put on the scanner goggles, also, we can pick the scanner up. So, at some point in this game the protagonist dies.
